U.S. Senator Patrick Leahy took to the floor of the U.S. Senate recently to praise the work of The BOMA Project. BOMA is a U.S.-based non-governmental organization that assists poor women of Northern Kenya in starting their own businesses and mentors them to help ensure their success.
Maria Grazia Khoyan, a Village Mentor for The BOMA Project in Kenya, is a finalist for a $10,000 award from Students Rebuild and Half the Sky. BOMA is an innovative nonprofit that helps ultra-poor women start small, sustainable businesses in their rural villages.
