Raphael Marambii runs an agricultural business in Ol Kalao in Kenya's Central province. After training as a vet he spent several years working for the International Livestock Research Institute. He is currently studying for an MSc in agribusiness.

I am glad to be the bearer of good news this time. The mediation talks in Kenya led by former U.N. chief Kofi Annan have led to a breakthrough and a power-sharing agreement has been reached. The opposition leader Raila Odinga will get the newly formed position of prime minister with executive powers. This brings to an end many days of anxious waiting for most Kenyans.
We are all touched by the way the international community has rallied around us and fought for the safety and peace of ordinary Kenyans. Thank you all for your words of kindness and encouragement during the crisis.

Kenyans feel horror at what they've done

Despite this week's protests the violence in Kenya has eased and the tensions are slowly subsiding. We may not be out of the woods yet but at least now some sanity is returning as well as a sense of shame and horror at what we have done. However, there are many displaced internal refugees, many of whom are women and children that desperately need assistance. My heart goes out to the Rwandan people for what they went through but I believe that the world has now learned something from their tragedy. The quick reaction of the international community to intervene has been critical. ...

Kenya: Violence, ethnicity and the genie we must bury

Our presidential elections have caused violence and tension on a scale I've never witnessed. I know some of you may have seen worse but frankly I am terrified.
It has been terrible. We have been huddled indoors and running out of food. Most shops have been closed and many have run out of supplies. Kenya has never been so close to the edge.
