Rambo rescues aid workers

If you watched "Beyond Borders", "Tears of the Sun" and " Blood Diamond" and still want more, Hollywood has a new aid-world flick for you.
"Rambo IV: In the Serpent's Eye", the latest film with a very tentative humanitarian theme , is now in the making and is due out in 2008, Australian's Age reports.
Here's the plot: Christian human rights missionaries go to Burma to deliver humanitarian aid to Karens, the ethnic minority persecuted by the ruling military junta. They get kidnapped by government forces and that's where Rambo steps in. He goes in with a team of mercenaries to rescue them, leaving his quiet life in neighbouring Thailand behind.
"Beyond Borders", with Angelina Jolie in the main role, is a film that portrays aid workers gun-running for the CIA. "Tears of the Sun" stars Bruce Willis as a commando with U.S. Navy special forces who rescues Monica Bellucci, a U.S. citizen running a mission and hospital in Nigeria. And "Blood Diamond", starring Hollywood heartthrob Leonardo Di Caprio, dramatises the issue of "conflict diamonds" that fuel suffering in some African countries.
Surely the fact that Hollywood is interested in the humanitarian world is a good thing? Some real aid workers don't think so. They discuss the pros and cons of such films in AidWorkers Network's blog.
But as one blogger points out, maybe it doesn't really matter how aid workers are portrayed. What matters is the fact that the humanitarian emergencies they're operating in are highlighted and forced into people's consciousness.
So, rejoice or despair, the latest Rambo adventure will be in cinemas near you soon.

Congratulation Sylvestor Stallone! I am sure "Rambo IV: In the Serpent's Eye" will win every heart of moviegoers throughout the world. Thanks also for undertaking such a good picture in grand scale that will remind the rulers who are not different from robbers and thugs to stop going on commiting crime to their fellow countrymen that history will absolve for sure. I also really appreciate to every famous actor and actress who have their sympathy and humanitarian hearts for those who have become victims of dictatorship and are experiencing a bitter life whereas every human being should have their birthrights once they are born and enjoy democracy until death do them part. A big salute to the great artists of the movie world for supporting Democracy and Human Rights with their movie art.
