The day that Ramos Horta returned to his country coincides with the 9th anniversary of the massacre in Dili. In my brother Manuel's home, dozens of refugees, who had sought shelter there, were murdered. Among them my nephew Manelito. […] I do not know whether there will be justice eventually. I believe so. For Manelito and dozens of nameless faceless dead ones buried in Dr. António de Carvalho Street and for those who lie in Maubara. There are not thirteen deaths as Indonesia said. Because if they were 120 refugees and news of only 40 survivors, where have the other ones gone to?”
