LONDON (AlertNet) - The U.N. World Food Programme (WFP) has created an interactive online map allowing users to navigate the world’s top hunger hotspots and hone in on the causes of global food shortages.

The WFP Hunger Map features detailed profiles of hunger crises in 10 countries including Sudan, Bangladesh, Peru and the Democratic of Congo. It also provides links to background information on WFP operations in individual countries.

“There are more than 800 million undernourished women, men and children in the world, but how many people know where they live?” WFP Executive Director James Morris said in a statement. “The WFP ‘Hunger Map’ puts them on the map.”
