In June 2009, AlertNet and MapAction hosted a workshop looking at how aid agencies can make better use of maps in their communications, advocacy and emergency responses. Map experts and representatives from the UK's leading aid agencies got together to share experiences and debate the opportunities and challenges involved.

We also ran a series of workshops looking at the more practical aspects of using map technologies. We've included materials from these workshops below, along with a blog looking at some of the issues raised by the event and a video of the panel discussion and Q&A.
