Access to improved drinking water sources

Unsafe drinking water can be a significant carrier of diseases such as cholera, typhoid, and diarrhoeal diseases such as amoebic and bacillary dysentery.
In Baghdad, more than three quarters of population who have access to improved drinking water indicate problems with condition of services.
Access varies markedly among governorates. Basrah is worse than all other governorates with only 2% of population having access of improved drinking water sources and reliance is on reverse osmosis treated water stored in tankers for water supply. Muthanna and Babil have the next worst access with 53% and 64% respectively.
