Despite a peace agreement signed in 2003, DR Congo's eastern provinces have been bearing the brunt of repeated offensive military
actions, causing massive displacement of population in recent months.
Targeted attacks against civilians, horrific forms of sexual violence,recruitment of "child soldiers" and summary executions by
illegal armed groups have caused the human
rights and humanitarian situation to
deteriorate severely.
