The Nkurungu basin (60 km²) is located in the southwest of Uganda close to Lake George and is inhabited by rural communities
living on subsistence agriculture or fishing. Houses, roads, rivers and water bodies were mapped in order to study the accessibility of drinking water in the region. The mapping was done based on an
Ikonos image of 4 March 2008, which was orthorectified with ground control points delivered by the end user. The end user is Protos, who aims to improve the access to drinking water in the Lake
George area. This sheet represents the southern part of the area.
