Geneva/Bogotá (ICRC) – Yesterday, 09 September 2007, the ICRC
transported the bodies of 11 persons to Cali. They were handed over to forensics authorities in the presence of the families of the members of the Valle del Cauca Assembly.
The ICRC once again emphasizes how important it was for the families to receive the bodies.
The ICRC’s head of delegation in Colombia, Barbara Hintermann, pointed out that “waiting has been very painful for the families.
Now it’s important that they have a chance to grieve and to bury their loved ones.” An international commission coordinated by the Organization of American States will be responsible for the forensic work necessary to identify the bodies.
The ICRC wishes to express its appreciation to all who made it possible for the organization to carry out this humanitarian operation.
