Geneva (ICRC) – Two Italian Red Cross staff members were abducted by unknown persons at 3.30 p.m. local time today while travelling in a vehicle of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) at Mahfouza junction, in the Gaza Strip town of Khan Yunis. The ICRC is doing its utmost to obtain their safe and speedy release.

Claudio Moroni is an Italian psychologist and Gianmarco Onorato the Italian-Canadian manager of a project run in cooperation with the Palestine Red Crescent Society.

They are in Gaza to carry out a psycho-social programme in coordination with the ICRC.

Targeting humanitarian workers is totally unacceptable and strictly prohibited by law.

The ICRC demands the immediate and unconditional release of Mr.
