SUMMARY OF OCTOBER'S ACTIVITIES AND OUTPUTS

The programme continued to reduce risk to vulnerable communities and support conflict recovery and rehabilitation by implementing humanitarian mine action and SALW projects in Dahuk, Diyala, Erbil, Kirkuk, Ninewah, and Sulimaniyah governorates.

18 mine action teams (MATs), supported by 9 Community Liaison/Mine Risk Education (CL/MRE) teams.

Teams searched and cleared 356,783sq/m of land using hand, electronic, and visual techniques removing 362 hazardous items.

Teams demarcated 360,550sq/m of contaminated land making safe 6 previously unmarked minefields.

111 explosive ordnance disposal (EOD) tasks were undertaken and 2,657 hazardous items removed and destroyed.

Mine Risk Education teams delivered MRE sessions in 14 villages reaching 144 children.

Community Liaison teams conducted 15 impact assessments and visited a further 124 villages completing 17 minefield reports and 176 dangerous area reports.
