SUMMARY OF ACTIVITIES AND OUTPUTS
The programme continued to reduce the threat of unexploded ordnance (UXO) to vulnerable
communities in Vietnam by implementing humanitarian mine action in Quang Binh and Quang
Tri Provinces.
- Nine Mine Action Teams (MATs), supported by three Community Liaison (CL) teams.
- Teams visited 3,863 houses and eight scrapyards; searching 2,893 square metres of land; performing 400 Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) tasks; and removing a total of 1,041 items of UXO and 16 mines, including 199 items removed from scrapyards.
- Community Liaison teams conducted 25 community/partner meetings; visiting nine
villages, conducting 1,690 house-to-house surveys; documenting 187 mine/UXO reports; generating five post-clearance impact reports.
- During September the teams also cleared 7,900 sq/m of land, removing and destroying a
total of 37 items of UXO.
- 877 CWMD (Conventional Weapons Management and Destruction) items were removed and destroyed during the month.
