Relief & Rehabilitation - AFER61

Revision 1, LWF

LWF Target: US$ 952,470

LWF Cover: US$ 952,470

Geneva, 24 July 2007

This revision of activities and extension of the implementing period only contains the LWF component.

LWF has asked for an extension of the implementing period until 31 December 2007 which was granted by ACT CO on 10 July 2007.

Reason to request for an extension was that implementation of all the water components of the appeal could not be carried out as planned: civil works have been completed but not the installation of pipes and solar equipment. This has resulted in the delay in relocating the communities and by default delay in distribution of the family tents and agricultural support. Orders for pipes, fittings, solar panels and pumps was placed end of June, but delivery time will be approximately 2 months.

Unfortunately it was overlooked that at the same time LWF had requested for a revision of activities as funds received were more than the initial budget. Contributions of Church of Sweden/SIDA and Finchurchaid amounting to US$556,936 were carried forward from AFER51 to AFER61.

In this revision LWF does not request for further funds.

Project Completion Date: 31 December 2007

Jack Kimball, Reuters reporter in the Red Sea state of Eritrea poses for a photograph in the capital Asmara, September 15, 2007. The Red Sea state seems to be saying it's rebel-friendly, willing to take on world powers like the United States for having policies which Eritrea says are anathema to the region.
