Generous donors made it possible for these two children and their families to receive a large bag of rice for Christmas.
Children International - Zambia
KANSAS CITY, Mo - Poor children in Lusaka helped by Children International, a humanitarian organization, are living the miracle of Christmas. Besides receiving new clothing for Christmas, children living in dire poverty in Lusaka were also given a large bag of rice to supplement their families' food needs.
Children International was able to provide the 5.5 pound gift of rice to 10,877 families living in the slums of Lusaka, thanks to the generosity of Children International sponsors. The children and their families earn a dollar a day on average, which is not enough to feed a family much less provide new clothes and shelter.
James R. Cook, President and CEO of Children International said, "Even in these challenging economic times, our generous sponsors and donors continue to provide for children living in dire need. Thanks to their support, they have made it possible to light up the lives of children living in the shadows of poverty."
