In the evening of Wednesday, 15 August 2007, a severe earthquake measuring 8.0 degrees in the Richter scale struck in the Department of Ica. More than 500 people have lost their lives, 85.000 people are left homeless.
Aktion Deutschland Hilft - Das Bündnis der Hilfsorganisationen" provided assistance for the victims of the earthquake from beginning on. Drinking Water, food, tents and blankets were distributed and medical aid was given to the victims of the earthquake.
