GlobalMedic Restores Clean Drinking Water to Tsunami Victims

A five member Global Medic Rapid Response Team has helped to restore clean drinking water systems to Tsunami victims in the Solomon Islands. The Team has:
- trained members of Save the Children in water purification techniques
- installed 10 portable water purification systems
- restored clean water access to hospitals in Munda and Ghizo
- set up a mobile distribution delivery system in Munda
- created a central distribution to service the camps in Ghizo
- installed several systems in isolated villages
- distributed over half a million water purification tablets
Staff from Save the Children will take over the water program. Ten more portable water purification systems are en route to the region to be installed by in country staff who will also distribute the additional 1.4 million water purification tablets that recently arrived.
Global Medic has also donated essential medicines, oral rehydration sachets and will help in the procurement of hygiene items
