Mr John Roycroft, Secretary General of the Irish Red Cross said that the implementation of all elements of the Treaty was vital if lives were to be saved. "The Red Cross movement will be monitoring and cooperating with all countries that are providing the necessary assistance to victims of cluster bombs and will be continuing the challenge to have the thousands of acres contaminated by cluster bombs cleared as soon as possible," he said.

Mr Roycroft paid tribute to all the delegates and in particular to the Irish Government delegates who made this historic Treaty a reality.

"Millions of victims are indebted to this unique group of delegates who put humanity before anything else," he said.
