Today, Medecins Sans Frontieres (MSF) launches the Condition Critical project. Through stories, pictures and video, Condition: Critical will bring the lives of the people living in north and South Kivu in the Democratic Republic of Congo to the eyes of the world.

Condition: Critical is a year-long project, focusing on the people of Congo and the 15 year war that has been raging around them. Many have been forced to flee their homes, some multiple times. They have little or no food and water, only the clothes they stand in and only what they carry on their backs. Their loved ones die in front of their eyes.

MSF has been working in North and South Kivu since 1981. Our medical teams carry out emergency surgery, treating injuries including gunshot wounds and burns; run mobile clinics to reach those who have fled to safer, more remote areas; provide health care in hospitals and health centres; respond to epidemics like cholera; provide medical care to victims of sexual violence; and provide psychological support for those traumatized by what they have experienced.
