Semmanpullai Ganesha School Opening Ceremony
On the 1st of June, so exactly on the International Children's Day, Polish Humanitarian Action passed on the Semmanpulai School to local community of Thampaddai. The school buildings had been totally destroyed by the tsunami wave, which killed 24 of the school students, commemorated during the opening ceremony. The new school buildings were given a new location within the grounds passed on by Mr. Mutuliniam.

As during the Kanaki Vidyalayam School opening ceremony we were decorated with flower garlands, blessed by the local Brahmin as well as by the representative of the local Christian community.

Invited guests lit olive lamps in front of the picture of science and knowledge goddess Sarasvati. All children were holding little flags with PAH logo on them. The school orchestra accompanied PAH representatives while marching towards the place where the symbolic ribbon was to be cut. We could read a sign hanging over the entrance which said: "All our great visitors are welcomed to Genesha School opening ceremony." Besides PAH representatives and workers there also were Mr. Hashim from Local Bureau of Education and Mr. Prasant, the engineer who supervised the whole construction works. Mr. Raventrian, the school headmaster, thanked PAH, as well as the whole Polish society for that beautiful proof of solidarity. After all official speeches the children gave us an artistic performance and grateful parents dined us with a traditional meal, which all guests delighted while listening to music and watching firecrackers. For all of PAH workers, children, teachers and parents it was a time of joy and celebration.
