Save the Children is deeply concerned about escalating violence in and around Gaza that has made a very bad situation even worse for hundreds of thousands of children living in the region.

We appeal for public support to help provide immediate emergency food and medical supplies to children and families caught in the crossfire of the recent violence.

Even before the most recent air strikes, tens of thousands of children in Gaza were facing a humanitarian crisis, with little access to food, water, health care, electricity and sanitation facilities. Many thousands of children in Gaza City are receiving water only once a week for a few hours. More than half of all children are in need of food assistance. Health care for children is deteriorating. School exams were interrupted by the bombing, and many children do not know when they will be able to return to school. Many children are living in fear of additional attacks. Save the Children, which has worked in the Middle East since 1953, urges all concerned parties to restore the ceasefire immediately and resume steps to find a peaceful solution to the current crisis that jeopardizes the lives of nearly every child in Gaza while also endangering the lives of Israeli children in areas subject to rocket or other potential attacks.

All concerned must protect innocent lives and take immediate steps to address the urgent humanitarian needs of the people of Gaza through full access of relief assistance into Gaza.
