This is a preliminary report.

World Vision Haiti is coordinating with the United Nations Stabilization Mission, as well as with government institutions and other NGOs to provide immediate assistance to people in shelters through the distribution cooking sets and clothes to men, women and children.

So far Tropical Storm Noel has caused 48 deaths, 14 injuries and 15 people missing. Eight thousand people have been evacuated while 3,300 have lost their houses to the floods. No ADPs report loss of life at this point.

South Preliminary numbers indicate partially damaged or destroyed homes. Crops have also been lost. Roads are impassable, so many communities are isolated, and World Vision teams are having a hard time completing the assessments. Continuing scattered rains are still a factor.

La GonĂ¢ve Island A partial assessment describes damages to homes, crops and livestock. Many communities remain isolated due to continuing rains; commuting between towns continues to be difficult. Teams are working to reach the farthest localities at the western coast of the island.

Our offices are closed until Monday. Unless the situation worsens with more rains, our next update will be issued Monday the 5th of November.
