Up to 10,000 school children in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) could benefit from better educational facilities through a 'Corporate Club'
initiated by World Vision to encourage corporations to take up their social responsibility and invest in the country's future entrepreneurs and workforce.
'Our target is to have 75 members by the end of the first year, which means raising around US$25,000 locally towards educational purposes for 10,000 children', said World Vision BiH Marketing Officer, Armin Alijagic.
The club has also created a gift catalog so that companies can elect alternative ways of supporting children across the country.
'Corporate Club' is an affordable corporate membership program developed to create a network of companies that wish to help build a better future for the children of Bosnia and Herzegovina by improving the educational conditions in schools.
A disproportionate number of children in BiH still endure inadequate and often dangerous school conditions that are detrimental to learning and students' physical wellbeing.
Old chairs, desks and school tables, worn-out floors, unheated classrooms and unhygienic toilets are all too commonplace in schools countrywide, as opposed to the much more functional and comfortable facilities enjoyed by children in neighbouring European countries.
Yet World Vision also views the Corporate Club as a two-way partnership. 'Corporate Club offers companies the possibility to develop their businesses by developing their corporate social responsibility', said Sue Birchmore, World Vision BiH National Director.
The club offers companies an excellent way to build-up their brand through compelling ways of showing their social contribution in helping children and their families have a brighter future.
Members will also have opportunities at different events throughout the year to enhance their business as they network and meet potential partners.
The club is already supported by the leading companies in BiH such as Volksbank, Microfinance foundation EKI and Posao.ba, the most visited labour market website.
