"What World Vision and its Community Youth Centers are doing for the youth is incredible," says Mr. Biktor Balanchivadze, Mayor of Kutaisi.
Since the beginning of its activities the Community Youth Center of Kutaisi has served about 250 young people of 14-20 years of age; social workers of the Center have prevented 13 children from being abandoned, reintegrated 59 children back to their families, placed 5 children into loving foster families and another 4 into the Small Group Home established as a new and cost-effective alternative to the old institutional system.
It has also assisted 67 young people with employment and provided vocational training and business trainings to 95 and helped another 8 to receive business loans.
"We are so happy that our work has been so well-recognized and appreciated by the government," says Ms. Lika Kiladze, Director of Community Youth Centre of Kutaisi. "This is a great stimulus for us and enforces our dedication to be even more successful in the future."
The Community Youth Centre of Kutaisi, established within the framework of Learners for Life project through funding from EU and World Vision Austria, has been serving the youth of Imereti Region of West Georgia since September 2005.
In total, three Community Youth Centers have been established throughout Georgia within the framework of World Vision Georgia's Learners for Life project, serving over 800 children and young people in three major regions of the country.
