May 10 - Sri Lankans in the war-ravaged east vote in local elections for the first time in two decades despite a bomb blast.

The military is blaming Tamil Tiger rebels for the attack on a cafe left at least 11 dead and wounded nearly 30 more just hours ahead of the start of voting.
