Sep 3 - Hundreds of thousands of people are fleeing the flood devastated areas of Bihar in India after losing their homes and loved ones.

The floods were caused when the river Kosi deviated its course in northern Bihar and it is expected to be a while before things return to normal.

Officials say more than three million people have been displaced and at least 90 killed by floods after the Bihar's 'river of sorrow' burst a dam in Nepal, swamping hundreds of villages in the state and destroying 100,000 hectares (250,000 acres) of farmland.

Sonia Legg reports.
