Nov 11 - Indonesia has launched a new tusnami warning system, designed to alert people living in the archipelago of 17,000 islands enough time to escape tsunamis before they reach the shore.

The new system comes into operation just under four years after the 2004 Boxing Day tsunami in the Indian Ocean that killed a quarter of a million people, more than half of them in Indonesia.
