May 26 - Scores of people have been killed and half a million forced from their homes after Cyclone Aila slammed into Bangladesh and eastern India.

Aila crashed into the coast on Monday, triggering tidal surges and flooding. It swept many areas still recovering from Cyclone Sidr, which killed 3,500 people in Bangladesh in November 2007 and made at least a million homeless.

Helen Long reports.
