TBILISI, May 20 (Reuters) - A former member of Georgia's parliament was shot dead in central Tbilisi on Sunday night and police detained a suspect, Georgian Television said. Rustavi-2 said the motive for the killing of Guram Sharadze, a professor at Tbilisi State University, was not clear. Sharadze, 67, was a friend and associate of late Georgian President Zviad Gamsakhurdia, who was overthrown in 1992 and died a year later. He was a member of parliament in the 1990s, but had not been involved in politics since 2003.
