SRINAGAR, India, Dec 6 (Reuters) - Suspected separatist militants threw a grenade at a police vehicle in Indian Kashmir on Wednesday, wounding 13 people, police said, the second such attack in two days in the troubled Himalayan region. Three policemen were among the wounded in the explosion near a bus stand in Srinagar, Kashmir's summer capital. A police spokesman said the grenade was aimed at a police vehicle but missed and exploded on the road, causing panic-stricken people to run into nearby shops. On Tuesday, at least 10 civilians were wounded when suspected militants lobbed a grenade at an army patrol in Baramulla town, north of Srinagar, but missed. One died later of his injuries. Officials say violence has fallen in the scenic region since India and Pakistan started a peace process in 2004. But people are still killed almost every day in shootouts and grenade attacks by suspected militants, fighting New Delhi's rule in the disputed territory. More than 45,000 people have been killed since 1989 in the revolt in Jammu and Kashmir, mainly Hindu India's only Muslim-majority state, and the cause of two of the three India-Pakistan wars. Separatists say the toll is at least twice that number.
