Laos confirms first case of human bird flu

BANGKOK, Feb 27 (Reuters) - Laos confirmed on Tuesday its first human case of bird flu, a 15-year-old girl living in a suburb of Vientiane where the virus was found in poultry three weeks ago.

The girl, who went down with fever and respiratory problems on Feb. 15, was in stable condition in a Thai hospital, the Lao Ministry of Health and World Health Organization said in a joint statement.
