BANGKOK, May 4 (Reuters) - The world needs to cut annual emissions of carbon dioxide by between 50 and 85 percent by 2050 to keep global warming in check, a U.N. climate change report said on Friday.

The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change report, approved in Bangkok, also said keeping the rise in temperatures to within 2 degrees centigrade would cost 0.12 percent of global Gross Domestic Product.

China's first plan for climate change will seek to fortify the country against damage from global warming but also against international pressure to cut greenhouse gas pollution that Beijing calls the cost of growth.
