COLOMBO, June 28 (Reuters) - Sri Lankan troops killed 11 Tamil Tigers in the east and fighter jets bombed two insurgent camps in the far north on Thursday, the military said.

"Troops have confronted some terrorists fleeing from Thoppigala (in the east) and were able to kill 11 of them and recover weapons and radio sets," said an official at the Media Centre for National Security, who asked not to be identified.

He said jets had destroyed two rebel camps in the far northern district of Mullaithivu, in the Tigers' northern stronghold, but there were no further details.

The separatist Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam were not immediately available for comment.

In another incident, two soldiers were killed in the army-held northern Jaffna peninsula by a roadside bomb.

Analysts see no clear winner on the horizon and fear a war that has killed nearly 70,000 people since 1983 will run on for years.

An estimated 4,500 people have been killed in fighting since civil war reignited last year.
