Sept 24 (Reuters) - Following are security developments in Sri Lanka at 1000 GMT on Wednesday:

VAVUNIYA DISTRICT -- Sri Lankan troops killed at least 11 Tamil Tiger rebels in seven clashes on Tuesday in the northern district of Vavuniya, located about 255 km (160 miles) north of Colombo, military spokesman Brigadier Udaya Nanayakkara said. The clashes took place in Akkarayankulam, Wannivilankulam, Nawadikulam and Pallamodai areas.

OMANTAI CROSSING -- The International Committee of the Red Cross took 13 rebel bodies from the military at the Omantai checkpoint located 270 km (170 miles) north of Colombo. Omantai is the entry and exit point separating Tamil Tiger-held areas from the rest of the country.

ANDANKULAM -- The military said army troops captured a trench in Andankulam located about 15 km (10 miles) south of the Tiger-held port of Mullaittivu on the northeastern coast. Seven rebels were killed and 13 others were wounded in nine clashes that took place on Monday. Two soldiers were wounded, one by a landmine and the other in a mortar barrage.

PIRAMANTALKULAM - Air force jets bombed a high-ranking Tamil Tiger leader's hideout in Piramantalkulam area on Tuesday night, air force spokesman Wing Commander Janaka Nanayakkara said. He gave no further details on which leader the strike had targeted.

KILINOCHCHI - At least two guerrillas were killed and four wounded when troops attacked two bunkers at Panderimode in the rebel-held district of Kilinochchi, about 330 km (205 miles) north of Colombo, on Tuesday, military spokesman Brigadier Udaya Nanayakkara said. One soldier was wounded in the fighting. One soldier was wounded in a fight at nearby Thenniyayankulam.

AKKARAYANKULAM -Three soldiers were killed and two others were wounded when Tamil Tiger rebels launched a mortar attack at three targets at Akkarayankulam, about 320 km (200 miles) north of Colombo, on Tuesday, the military's Nanayakkara said.

JAFFNA - One soldier was wounded in a clash with rebels at Muhamalai in northern Jaffna peninsula, about 395 km (245 miles) north of Colombo. The military also said a hand grenade blast wounded another soldier on Wednesday. (Compiled by Ranga Sirilal)
