SRINAGAR, India, Dec 6 (Reuters) - Six people, including three soldiers, were killed in avalanches in Indian Kashmir triggered by heavy snowfall, officials said on Wednesday. They said snowfall also closed the highway connecting the Kashmir valley with the rest of India. "An avalanche killed three soldiers last night," army spokesman Colonel Hemant Joneja said, adding it took place in Uri near the Line of Control, which divides Kashmir between India and Pakistan. Another snowslide on Wednesday killed three road workers in the neighbouring Kupwara area. At least 225 people were killed last year in south Kashmir after the heaviest snow in more than 40 years triggered avalanches which swept away homes and blanketed the valley.
