DHAKA, Aug 8 (Reuters) - Accidents in work places, mostly in garment factories, killed at least 953 people in Bangladesh in the six months to June, a health foundation report said. Another 1,637 workers were injured in dozens of accidents over the period, said the Bangladesh Occupational Safety, Health and Environment Foundation. It said lack of implementation of laws, hazardous and aged-old installations, ineffective machinery and inadequate safety tools in workplaces were the key factors behind the occupational accidents. The highest number of 788 causalities occurred in the garment sector, the impoverished country's prime export earner, followed by 566 deaths in the transport and 123 deaths in the construction sectors, the foundation said.
