FEWS NET Watch Alert for Mozambique, published Jan 10 2007

Mozambique Food Security Watch

The Famine Early Warning Systems Network (FEWS NET) issues periodic Watches when there are indications of a possible food security crisis. Decision makers should pay increasing attention to the situation highlighted in this Watch, and prioritize preparedness and contingency planning measures to address the situation.

Issued: January 10, 2007

As the hunger season peaks, household food access remains adequate. Rainfall has been late and poorly distributed in central and southern regions, with flooding in some areas, and replanting has been necessary. A full alert statement will be released shortly.
