BELGRADE, July 27 (Reuters) - A gunman shot dead at least seven people, apparently at random, in a Serbian village on Friday and police mounted a manhunt to apprehend the killer, police sources said.

They said the gunman, armed with a rifle, was believed to be a local teacher in the village of Jabukovac near the town of Negotin, which is close to Serbia's eastern border with Romania.

There was no immediate information about the victims.

The sources said special police anti-terrorist units were conducting the manhunt, using two helicopters.
