LASHKAR GAH, Afghanistan, April 4 (Reuters) - A suicide bomber attacked police in southern Afghanistan on Friday, killing three and wounding three, a provincial police chief said. The latest violence in Afghanistan came hours after NATO leaders meeting in Bucharest confirmed their "firm and shared long-term commitment" to Afghanistan. The bomber blew himself up in the capital of Helmand province, Lashkar Gah, after walking up to a police vehicle, said police chief Mohammad Hussain Andiwal. There was no claim of responsibility but Taliban insurgents fighting to oust NATO- and U.S.-led troops and bring down the Western-backed government have vowed to step up their insurgency.
