ISLAMABAD, June 10 (Reuters) - Pakistani police are investigating the death of a Canadian woman who had been staying at the house of a government minister in the capital, Islamabad, police said on Sunday.

Kafila Siddiqui, a 40-year-old Canadian of Pakistani origin, was brought to a hospital on Saturday by Minister of State for Communications Muhammad Shahid Jamil Qureshi. She was pronounced dead upon arrival, said a senior police officer.

An officer familiar with the investigation, who declined to be identified, said a post mortem would be carried out to establish the cause of death.

Qureshi, a member of President Pervez Musharraf's ruling party, said he had found the woman vomiting on the floor at the house where she was staying and had then taken her to hospital.

He said Siddiqui had been running a consultancy aimed at attracting Canadian investment.

An official at the Canadian High Commission referred queries to Ottawa.
