KABUL, April 12 (Reuters) - A suicide bomber attacked employees of an Indian road construction company in Afghanistan on Saturday, wounding five of its staff, including three Indians, the Interior Ministry said.

The attack, the latest in a spell of intermittent violence in recent weeks following a traditional winter lull, happened in the remote southwestern province of Nimroz, the ministry said in a statement.

Ousted from power in 2001, the Taliban are fighting to expel foreign forces and bring down Afghanistan's Western-backed government.

There was no immediate claim of responsibility for Saturday's blast but the Taliban have claimed numerous similar attacks against the government, foreign forces and aid and reconstruction projects. (Reporting by Sayed Salahuddin, editing by Robert Birsel and Bill Tarrant)
