July 5 (Reuters) - Following are security developments in Afghanistan at 0730 GMT on Saturday:

KANDAHAR - Gunmen shot dead a member of the parliament outside his house late on Friday in the southern province of Kandahar, the government said.

HELMAND - Ten Taliban insurgents were killed while planting roadside bombs in the southern province of Helmand late on Friday, police said on Saturday.

PAKTIKA - An operation by Afghan soldiers resulted to the deaths of eight militants in southeastern Paktika province on Friday, the Defence Ministry said.
