- CRATER FROM POSSIBLE METEOR FRAGMENT IN BALI PULLS CROWDS

A crater, found in a rice field in Bali and thought to have been caused by a meteorite fragment, has attracted crowds.

The crater, one metre in diameter, was found 20 kilometres north of Denpasar. Residents said they heard an explosion on Tuesday evening and saw a bright object falling from the sky.

- CILIWUNG RIVER OVERFLOWS, JAKARTA ON ALERT

Heavy rains in Jakarta and the surrounding areas have caused the water level of Jakarta's main river Ciliwung to rise, leading to flooding. Thousands of people were forced to evacuate as floodwaters reached a depth of between 50 centimetres and 2 metres in some parts of the capital and surrounding areas.
