- GOVT AND HOUSE TO INCREASE TAX ON LUXURY GOODS

The government and parliament plan to increase the highest tax on luxury goods to 200 percent from 75 percent in a bid to boost tax receipts, the head of a special parliamentary committee on luxury tax said.

- MUTUAL FUND TAX SHOULD BE 0.05 PCT-ASSOCIATION

Tax on bond-based mutual funds should be pegged at 0.05 percent of the transaction and double taxation on the interest or capital gain should be omitted, an association of mutual fund managers said.
