Sept 2 (Reuters) - Following are security developments in Iraq at 1230 GMT on Sunday.

* denotes new or updated item.

* MUQDADIYA - U.S. forces killed 14 insurgents and detained six others during an operation north of Muqdadiya last week that was targeting al Qaeda operatives.

* MAHMUDIYA - U.S. and Iraqi forces detained 16 suspected insurgents during a combat air assault operation in the town of Mahmudiya, 30 km (20 miles) south of Baghdad, on Saturday, the U.S. military said.

* RIYADH - Gunmen killed an off-duty policeman and a soldier in a drive-by shooting in a village near the town of Riyadh, 60 km (40 miles), southwest of the city of Kikruk, police said.

BAGHDAD - Four people were killed and seven wounded by a car bomb in the Shi'ite district of Kadhimiya in northwestern Baghdad, police said.

DIWANIYA - The bodies of six people were found shot in different districts of Diwaniya, 180 km (110 miles) south of Baghdad, police said.

KUT - The bodies of six people were found shot in different areas of Wasit province, southeast of Baghdad, police said.

BAGHDAD - U.S. forces caught seven suspected weapons smugglers during pre-dawn raids around Baghdad, the U.S. military said.

KUT - A policeman was killed and another wounded in clashes with gunmen in the city of Kut, police said.

HILLA - Police arrested three insurgents who attacked the house of a police chief in Hilla, 100 km (60 miles) south of Baghdad, police said. A civilian was wounded in the attack.

BAGHDAD - The bodies of 15 people were found in different districts of Baghdad on Saturday, police said.

MOSUL - A woman was killed and three wounded, two girls and a child, by a cluster bomb left from the U.S.-led invasion in 2003. The incident took place near the city of Mosul, 390 km (240 miles) north of Baghdad, police said.

BAGHDAD - A roadside bomb targeting a police patrol wounded three policemen in Baghdad's western Yarmouk district, police said.

BAGHDAD - Gunmen killed four people in random shooting in the northern district of Shaab on Saturday, police said.

BAGHDAD - A mortar round killed one person and wounded another in Zayouna district in eastern Baghdad, police said.

ISKANDARIYA - A bomb killed one person when it exploded near a bus on Saturday in the town of Iskandariya, 40 km (25 miles) south of Baghdad, police said.
