* MOSUL - U.S. forces killed an al Qaeda militant and detained six other suspects during operations on Wednesday and Thursday in Mosul, 390 km (240 miles) north of Baghdad, the U.S. military said.

SINIYA - A roadside bomb killed Lieutenant-Colonel Khalid Rasheed, head of police for the town of Siniya near Baiji, 180km (110 miles) north of Baghdad, police said.

BAGHDAD - Three government employees were killed and three others wounded in a drive-by shooting in northern Baghdad, police said.

SALMAN PAK - Three neighbourhood policemen were killed and seven wounded when a small bus exploded near a house in the town of Salman Pak, about 45 km (25 miles) south of Baghdad, police said.

BAQUBA - Suspected al Qaeda militants attacked a house and killed three brothers who worked as neighbourhood policemen in a town near Baquba, 65 km (40 miles) north of Baghdad, police said.

BAGHDAD - Three people, including a woman and a girl, were hurt in clashes and 16 detained after U.S. forces raided the Sadr City district of northeastern Baghdad, police said. A U.S. military spokesman said one person was killed and another was wounded when U.S. and Iraqi soldiers in raids "targeting criminal elements".

KHALIS - U.S. forces killed five suspected al Qaeda militants during operations on Wednesday northeast of Khalis, 80 km (50 miles) northeast of Baghdad, the U.S. military said.

KERBALA - The Iraqi police arrested 11 members of the Shi'ite "Soldiers of Heaven" cult near the city of Kerbala, 110 km (70 miles) southwest of Baghdad, police said.

BAGHDAD - A roadside bomb wounded three policemen in the Mansour district of western Baghdad, police said.

BAGHDAD - U.S. soldiers found two large weapons caches and detained a suspected insurgent in the Gazaliya district of western Baghdad on Wednesday, the U.S. military said.

SALMAN PAK - A roadside bomb wounded two policemen in Salman Pak, about 45 km (25 miles) south of Baghdad, police said.
