NATO soldier killed in southern Afghanistan

KABUL, June 12 (Reuters) - A NATO soldier was killed in southern Afghanistan on Monday after an explosion, the alliance's U.N.-mandated Afghan security force said on Tuesday.

Two others were wounded, it added.

The NATO-led International Security Assistance Force, which is battling Taliban insurgents, gave no details in a short statement. It does not release the nationalities of casualties.

The body of fallen Canadian soldier Trooper Darryl James Caswell, carried by his comrades, is slowly marched into a C130 Hercules Transport plane in Kandahar, Afghanistan June 14, 2007. Trooper Caswell was a member of the Royal Canadian Dragoons Reconnaissance Squadron from CFB Petawawa and was part of the 2nd Battalion Royal Canadian Regiment Battle group of Joint Task Force Afghanistan.
