Twelve killed in head-on bus crash in Egypt

CAIRO, June 1 (Reuters) - A bus collided head-on with a minibus in central Egypt on Sunday, killing 12 people and injuring 12, police said. The driver of the bus, travelling between the Nile River provinces of Beni Suef and Minya, lost control after a truck crossed into his path, a police official said. Bad driving, lax traffic rules and poor road conditions lead to a high accident toll in Egypt. A series of crashes in the past few years caused a public outcry over the government's record of road and transport safety. (Writing by Will Rasmussen; editing by Andrew Dobbie)
