BAGHDAD, Nov 2 (Reuters) - A Baghdad University dean was killed along with his wife and son in a drive-by shooting in northern Baghdad on Thursday, an Interior Ministry source said.

Jasim al-Thahabi, the dean of Baghdad University's Administration and Economics department, was killed near the Sunni district of Adhamiya as he travelled with his family near his place of work.

The attack comes three days after the head of the University Teachers' Association and moderate Sunni cleric, Isam al-Rawi, was killed.

Human rights groups have voiced concern over the killings of many dozens of Iraqi academics since the 2003 U.S.-led invasion. Many more have fled the country along with professionals in other fields who have been a frequent target of attacks.

Soldiers stand guard at a checkpoint during a curfew in Baghdad November 5, 2006. With Saddam Hussein hours from learning whether he will hang, Iraq's government imposed curfews on Sunday and has cancelled army leave, fearing the historic trial verdict might trigger fresh sectarian bloodletting.
