JENIN, West Bank, June 3 (Reuters) - Israeli soldiers killed a Palestinian gunman in the occupied West Bank on Sunday, witnesses and military officials said.

They said the 19-year-old member of al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades, an armed wing of President Mahmoud Abbas's Fatah faction, was shot dead in an exchange of fire with troops in Jenin refugee camp.

Israeli-Palestinian fighting has surged in recent weeks with rocket attacks from the Gaza Strip and Israeli strikes against militants in the territory.
